THE IMPACT OF E-COMMERCE
Minimizing Our Shipping Footprint
We understand that there’s always room to enhance our efforts in reducing our shipping footprint. By consistently evaluating our logistics and shipping practices, we continually discover new ways to be more sustainable and more committed to protecting the planet.
Many packaging materials marketed as sustainable come with significant drawbacks. For example, bio-based polyethylene bags and mailers are often presented as biodegradable or compostable. While they are made from bio-sources and are less harmful than virgin oil-based plastics, they remain plastics nonetheless. Those that biodegrade break down into microplastics that neither enrich the soil nor truly disappear. Additionally, they typically require industrial composting facilities—which are scarce in North America—to decompose properly.
After extensive research and learning, we’ve transitioned to packaging solutions made from FSC-certified paper sources, containing up to 100% recycled content and fully recyclable at curbside. To maximize recyclability, we avoid mixing materials that could hinder the process. Our cardboard mailers come with paper labels and recycle-friendly adhesive, ensuring the entire package you receive is completely recyclable.
